Hi, I’m a “Geeky Grandma” who, out of necessity, learned how to do a lot of “techy” things. We live in the country, which years ago made it nearly cost prohibitive to have a computer tech come out to do repairs or fixes on our computer. This was before the “Geek Squad” was ever imagined.

Our Compaq computer provided excellent technical assistance over the phone. They would walk you through what needed to be done. This service helped build my confidence working on and creating fixes or installs for our “state of the art” Compaq. It had a huge hard drive with an amazing 20 MB storage (that’s not a typo). We thought it could never get all used up. Well you know the end of that story.

Because of the “down in the trenches” self-taught hardware and software education over the last 20+ years, I’ve picked up a few tidbits of knowledge. I’d like to share them with you every now and then, hopefully, to save you time and solve some issues, especially for the “DIY’ers”.
